Call for Guest Editors

Artificial Intelligence Advances in Education is pleased to invite proposals for Special Issues to be published in upcoming volumes. We welcome initiatives from scholars eager to curate thematic collections that advance the frontiers of knowledge in their field.
We seek proposals that:

  • Address timely, innovative, or under-explored topics within the scope of the journal
  • Encourage interdisciplinary dialogue or introduce emerging fields
  • Have the potential to attract high-quality, original submissions from across the globe

Guest Editor Requirements
Each Special Issue must be coordinated by a team of at least three Guest Editors who:

  • Hold a PhD in a relevant discipline
  • Possess a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals or academic books
  • Represent at least three different countries, ensuring geographic diversity
  • Bring complementary areas of expertise aligned with the proposed theme

We particularly encourage proposals that include early-career researchers alongside established scholars, and that reflect gender and regional diversity.
Guest editors, collectively, may submit one article to their Special Issue. This submission will be independently assessed by a member of the Editorial Board and assigned to peer reviewers, ensuring transparency and integrity.

Proposal Content
Please include the following in your proposal (as a single PDF):

  • Tentative title of the Special Issue
  • A short description (300–500 words) outlining the scope, relevance, and rationale
  • Names, affiliations, and short bios (100–150 words each) of the proposed Guest Editors
  • A tentative timeline for the call, review, and publication process

All proposals will be reviewed by the Editorial Board. Selected proposals will be invited to launch a formal Call for Papers in collaboration with the journal.

Guidelines for Guest Editors

Guest Editors play a key role in shaping the direction and academic quality of Special Issues. The following guidelines are intended to support a consistent, professional, and ethical editorial process.

Scope and Responsibilities

  • Define a clear and coherent Special Issue theme aligned with the journal’s scope and your expertise.
  • Draft and promote a Call for Papers (CFP) in collaboration with your Guest Editors team and the Editor-in-Chief. Coordinate the editorial workflow: screening, reviewer selection, recommendations, and revisions.
  • Submit an editorial note upon completion of the issue.
  • Ensure all content adheres to the journal’s Code of Ethics.

Editorial Team Requirements

  • Minimum of three Guest Editors preferably from different affiliations and countries.
  • All must hold a PhD and have a strong publication record.
  • Expertise should be complementary and aligned with the proposed theme.
  • Diversity of gender, region, and career stage is strongly encouraged.

Peer Review Process

  • Each manuscript must be reviewed by at least three qualified, independent reviewers.
  • Guest Editors suggest reviewers, but final invitations are issued in coordination with the Editorial Board.
  • Reviews must be constructive, critical, and timely and strictly follow our guidelines for the reviewers.
  • Final decisions rest with the Editor-in-Chief.

Authorship by Guest Editors

  • Guest Editors may collectively contribute one article to their Special Issue.
  • This submission will be handled independently by a member of the Editorial Board and subject to standard peer review.

Timeline and Communication

  • Guest Editors are responsible for maintaining momentum and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Regular communication with the journal team is expected throughout the process.
  • In case of delays in closing the issue, the Lead Guest Editor must communicate promptly with the Editorial Board and request an official extension.
  • Special Issues that experience significant delays may be cancelled, and any accepted manuscripts will be transferred to regular issues for publication.

Code of Ethics and Editors’ Responsibility

We are committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, transparency, and professional conduct.

Integrity and Fairness

  • All editorial decisions must be made based on scholarly merit and relevance.
  • Manuscripts must be handled confidentially throughout the review process.
  • Guest Editors must not influence peer review process.

Ethical Use of AI

  • Authors must disclose any use of artificial intelligence (e.g., for data analysis, manuscript drafting, or translation).
  • Use of generative AI must be transparent, detailing prompts, tools, and limitations.
  • AI-generated content must not replace critical scholarly interpretation or authorship.
  • Editors and reviewers must not use AI tools to write, summarize, or evaluate submissions unless explicitly permitted and transparently declared.
  • The use of AI tools for summarizing the issue content, editorial decisions, or manuscript evaluation is strictly prohibited.
  • The editors are not allowed to use AI generated text for crafting the Editorial Note.

Diversity and Inclusion

  • Guest Editors are encouraged to promote diversity among contributors and reviewers.
  • No discrimination on the basis of gender, race, nationality, affiliation, or academic rank will be tolerated.

Misconduct and Retractions

  • Any suspected plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or unethical conduct must be reported immediately to the Editor-in-Chief.
  • The journal follows COPE guidelines for handling misconduct and retractions.

Article Publishing Option

Open Access

Article processing charge (APC):
2000 USD (Excluding taxes)

Discounted APC:
$0 for all articles submitted on or before 8 March 2026.

Subsequent Discounted APC:
$200 for submissions received through 31 December 2026.
